Blog Small Spaces Look Spacious

Many of us, at times, have small, stuffy rooms or spaces in our homes that give a clustered and congested look, making them look even smaller in size and accommodability. Hence, here are some tips and tricks to make your small spaces look more spacious:

  • Colour Scheme

Colour Scheme

Keeping the colour scheme suitable is very crucial to the overall look of the room. Painting the walls and ceiling with a lighter, sober colour would make the space look wider by not making it wider, but by creating the illusion of a wider space, in general. In the same way, if we have a bigger space where we don’t have enough furnishing ideas or enough furniture to place, it is suggested to paint the walls with a darker shade to give the space an illusion of a narrower space.

  • Carpet/Flooring Designs

Carpet-Flooring Designs

In the smaller spaces, it is recommended that plain and/or light-toned carpet is laid on the floor which will make the space look wider. In the same way, if we want a larger space to look smaller in effect, use printed and/or dark-coloured carpets or floorings that will make the room look smaller.

  • Curtain Material and Type

In a smaller room or any living space, light material curtains or shades with plain, light colours are suggested to be used to give a wider effect in the room. Similarly, printed, dark and/or thick material curtains and shades are suggested to be used on the windows to give the room an opposite impact.

Furniture alignment and assemblage play a vital role in widening the impression of living space. A smaller living space requires minimal furniture, that too, adjustable and folding furniture is more suitable for use. For instance, floor cushions would be a better alternative for seating arrangement in such a room which would occupy less space and give a pleasant effect on the overall size and interior of the room.

These are some of the tips we can bring into use to make our living spaces look bigger or otherwise.
